16 Jun The Pancake Epidemic
If you miss the smooth flavors of Stumptown coffee, the Pancake Epidemic in Apgujung is where to get your fix. If that isn’t enough to get you on the Subway, imagine it’s 2014, step into my shoes and watch this video. At the time, pancake options in Seoul were almost exclusively Butterfingers in Apgujeong so you can imagine my Seattle heart exploding at the thought of both Stumptown Coffee and some decent Pancakes. Now, what happened in those two years between The Pancake Epidemic opening and be writing this review? 200g of Stumptown Hairbender costs 30,000Won, which is about double the price of great whole bean coffee in Korea. So you can imagine the dilemma.
I never bought beans from The Pancake Epidemic, but I’d have to say I wish I gave them a chance earlier. Their coldbrew, which is some of the best, comes in at 6,500W and with a small stack of Nutella pancakes at 8,500W, you’re eating a normal-priced breakfast in Apgujung. Even though they aren’t as good as The Original Pancake House, paired with the cold brew I was in heaven.
